Countdown to Easter: Pattern Give-away

So, it doesn't seem like anyone is making any Easter outfits.

Could it be that it has become so nineteen eighty something to dress in an easter bonnet and frilly dress? Or are you making something but keeping it under wraps for a couple more weeks?

Today's offering is an OOP jacket pattern, Vogue 8931.
Misses' Jacket:  Loose-fitting, lined jacket has collar variations, peplum, and two-piece sleeves.  A, B:  Flaps and concealed fly button closing.  Combination size E5: (14, 16, 18, 20, 22).

I could see this with denim on the upper portion and then a sateen print on the peplum to match a pencil skirt.

Or perhaps in a dark denim on top and a yellow and steel gray on the bottom portion?

But I digress... this isn't about my Easter outfit. What would you do with this jacket pattern if you win, would you colour-block or make in one colour?

So here is the deal, I will ship this new, factory-folded pattern internationally.  I just ask something in exchange.
  • Promise to give it a good home where it will not be sold.
  • Use it, make something fabulous, share the detail.  Share the pattern.
  • Leave a message in  the comment section that includes a way that I can contact you, if you win.
  • And do tell, do you think Easter outfits are oh-so Steel Magnolia era costume dressing or is there a place for Easter outfits in 2016?
I will draw for this pattern on Tuesday, March 15th.

Until then, good luck and happy sewing!

  1. The jacket isn't really my style, but I did want to comment about the Easter outfit thing. We're going to visit family for Easter dinner, so I'm hoping to make up something that looks nice enough that it says 'I dressed up', but is comfy enough for a 2+ hour car ride. And for a variety of reasons, it needs to be separates. We'll see what I come up with...

  2. I have so many wonderful memories of my mother making Easter outfits for my sisters and I while growing up. I will be traveling right before the holiday this year or I would make something. This pattern would be great for making a jacket for my daughter who is looking for new jobs that require her to wear a jacket.

  3. Well, I still prefer to have a new dress, blouse, jacket, SOMETHING, new to wear on Easter. Our little one (he is six) will be sporting new clothes to church, as our tradition. I think here in our area of the South it's a tradition many still hold on to and most ladies won't bring out their sandals and certainly won't wear white ones until Easter. You can tell I'm old! Lol

  4. I remember dressing up and going to church only on Easter as a kid in Winnipeg for our Aunt who was religious but we were not. Nowadays I never dress up for Easter.

The zipper on that jacket pattern looks interesting!

  5. I am not making anything to wear for Easter, but I notice that my table linens could use some sprucing up. So, maybe I'll plan a table runner and napkins. The coat pattern is sure to find a good home.

  6. Not to forget the new Easter Bonnet or hat worn for the first time on Easter Sunday. How times have changed! I still like a new outfit for Easter, but March in the western Canadian foothills can be less than spring-like, so a new Easter outfit does not have quite the same tone as in warmer climates. I love that jacket pattern, and to win it would be a lovely surprise. First, a spring/summer wearable muslin from my stash. Then perhaps a dupioni version for Christmas. And a tone-on-tone jacket for Easter 2017. But back to reality, and the dress already on my sewing table... Should I be chosen, I am Nova at auntleahenglish@gmail.com.
